About the Team

The team is from London, Ontario, Canada. The reason for the prefix of North is due to the fact that most of the team, when originally formed, came from the North London Men’s Monday Night Hockey League.

Back in the late 70’s, Bob Kendal wanted to start an Old Timers team. His call to arms was answered by a strange bunch of fellows, who thought they were hockey players. But in reality were just a group of guys who like to have fun and this fact is one of the reasons the club has lasted for so long.

The Old Devils were one of the first teams to participate in the Ontario SouthWestern league. In fact Bob even chaired the League for a few years. Now, in the next millennium, the team is under going some personnel changes. Bob (Radar to most) is moving up to the big leagues (Huff & Puff) to continue his career. Although this key figure of the team is moving on, the team philosophy will remain as Bob directed.

The philosophy of the team is first and foremost to enjoy the game. For that is what it is "A Game".

Old Devil's Policy

Philosophy: The philosophy of the OD is to ensure the “club” is fun to play for and participate with. This philosophy states: Winning of the game is off the ice. The outcome of the game doesn’t matter in the success of the club; it is the fellowship and good times that matter.

Executive: The OD club consists of 3 members within the voting membership of the club. These 3 identified members are responsible for the organization of the club in its entirety. These members’ duties will include, but are not limited to, the financial aspect, scheduling, day to day play of the team. In addition to these operational duties these members will be responsible for evaluating new members and voting on their acceptance to the club. These 3 members will be the “ears” of the club and will act accordingly to the “desire” of the club. The executive structure is intended to be a progressive pattern that allows for the growth in experience and ensure the success of the team.

Roles: • President - Responsible for the leadership and communication to the club. This role will manage and dispense any appropriate measures necessary. • Treasurer - Responsible for the financial aspects of the club. • Captain - Responsible as the main contact point of players in managing the grievance of players on the team.

Membership: Membership is the key to the success of our club! Membership entitles you to the privilege of certain rights within the “club” involvement. These rights include: • Once membership is accepted by the player. This member can only be removed from the team by unanimous decision of the executive. • Each member has the right to ask “in writing” for a year level of absence. • Each member is entitled to express their concern to the executive. Executive will act upon the concern and take appropriate action. • Playing time is considered a “right” not a privilege. Each member has the right to equal playing time during the schedule play of the game.

Newbie’s: The club will offer vacant positions to new or possible recruits. These recruits are subject to a 1 year evaluation period. At the end of 1 year, the executive will vote on the acceptance of the new member. The evaluation is not based on skill, but the ability to fit within the club and to continue the longevity of the club.
